
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation sent a Cell Broadcast warning to residents in several areas of Krabi Province to monitor for riverbank overflows, elevate belongings to higher ground, and prepare for the situation after continuous heavy rainfall since midnight.
At 09:00 on 1 Jul 2026, the Krabi Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office reported heavy rain in Krabi Province since after midnight, with very heavy rainfall from 04:00 until morning. The affected areas include Mueang Krabi District around the Krabi Yai Canal zone, Plai Phraya, Ao Luek, and Lam Thap districts. Water levels in the Krabi Yai Canal, starting from the upstream area near Huai To waterfall, have continuously increased, with a risk of overflowing if heavy rain persists.
Mr. Theerasak Thongmat, Director of the Krabi DDPM, stated that the department has sent warning messages via Cell Broadcast to residents in risk areas from the upstream communities of Krabi Yai Canal in Thap Prik Subdistrict down to Krabi Yai Subdistrict and Krabi Town Municipality, which serve as water catchment zones. The messages advise residents to move their belongings to higher ground and prepare for the situation.
So far, no damage has been reported from this situation. Krabi Province will continue monitoring rainfall and water levels closely and will promptly notify the public if there are any changes.
