In Rayong, heavy rain caused slippery roads, leading a military truck returning from the border to lose control and overturn, causing soldiers to fall onto the road and resulting in seven injuries.
On 1 July 2026 at 13:30, Lieutenant Pol. Lt. Pongpol Chantra, deputy investigator at Klaeng Police Station, Rayong Province, received a report from the Buddhadasa Welfare Rescue Volunteers about a military truck overturned on the bridge's central median near Ban Noen Kha Din, Moo 1, Thung Kwai Kin Subdistrict, Klaeng District, Rayong.
Upon investigation, the military truck bearing registration number 45685 was found lying on its side on the road median, having collided with a streetlight pole and a CCTV pole on the median, causing damage. Seven soldiers had fallen from the vehicle and were injured. Rescue volunteers provided initial first aid and transported the injured to Klaeng Hospital for further medical care.
The cause of the accident was a naval marine artillery regiment military truck returning from Pong Nam Ron District, Chanthaburi Province, to Sattahip District, Chonburi Province, for troop rotation. Heavy rainfall made the road slippery at a curve, causing the truck to skid, lose control, and overturn, resulting in several soldiers falling onto the road and sustaining injuries.
A second military vehicle following behind also lost control, swaying side to side, and collided with a white Hino six-wheel enclosed truck, registration Bah 737 Nonthaburi, belonging to a civilian who had stopped to assist the injured soldiers. This caused damage to the rear right side of the civilian's truck.
A soldier interviewed said they were returning from the border, heading back to Sattahip District, Chonburi Province, to rotate troops and replace the current unit on duty.
Mr. Saichon Malithong, 63, said the road was slippery at the time, causing the first military truck to lose control, though he did not see that incident. He witnessed the second truck losing control as it swayed left and right while navigating the curve, which caused soldiers to fall from the vehicle.
Mr. Chan, 46, the driver of the six-wheel enclosed truck, told our news team that he had been following the overturned military truck and stopped to help the soldiers. He parked on the left side when the following military vehicle braked abruptly, swayed, lost control, and collided with his truck.
