This sometimes leads to illegal dumping in vacant lots or canals, harming the environment and obstructing Bangkok's drainage systems.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has continuously advanced policies for cleanliness and urban order by announcing the organization of the “Scheduled Large Waste Disposal” event for 2026. During the weekend on 4-5 July 2026, to facilitate residents in disposing of large unused items free of charge.

  • Residents are advised to sort large waste items before disposal, such as furniture, electrical appliances, and sports equipment over 1 meter in size, which should be cut into smaller pieces. Heavy items should be dismantled and small pieces bundled neatly. Remember to bring your ID card (or an electricity or water bill) to verify ownership to the staff.
  • Steps for free large waste disposal by the BMA on 4-5 July 2026:
  • 1. Bring waste to the designated collection point.
  • 2. Present identification to confirm ownership.

3. Staff will collect and transport waste for disposal at no charge.

Warning:
Improper disposal obstructs Bangkok's drainage system. Under the Cleanliness Act, dumping outside containers or designated points can result in a fine of 2,000 baht. Dumping in waterways carries a penalty of up to 10,000 baht under the Criminal Code Section 380.
