"Meteorological Department" (Thai Meteorological Department) Issues 3rd Bulletin "Maysak" Storm Is set to pass Hainan Island tonight, causing increased rainfall in Thailand. Check provinces expected to be affected.


3 July 2026 GMT+7Meteorological DepartmentIssues statement on "Maysak" Storm 3rd Bulletin (106/2569) states that at 16:00 today, Tropical Storm Maysak (MAYSAK) was located in the upper South China Sea, south of Hainan Island, approximately 400 kilometers south of Nanning city, China, at latitude 18.3°N and longitude 109.9°E. Maximum sustained winds near the center are about 74 km/h. The storm is moving slowly northward and is expected to pass over Hainan Island tonight, then make landfall near Nanning in southern China between 4–6 July 2026. The storm center will not enter Thailand.

Due to the influence of Tropical Storm Maysak and a monsoon trough across northern and upper northeastern Thailand, combined with a fairly strong southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, rainfall will increase during 3-4 July 2026. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in some areas, especially in the north, upper northeast, east, and south. On 5-6 July 2026, heavy to very heavy rain will continue in parts of upper northern and upper northeastern regions.

Waves in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand will strengthen. In the upper Andaman Sea, waves will reach 2-3 meters, with thunderstorms causing waves over 3 meters. The lower Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand will have waves around 2 meters, with thunderstorms causing waves above 2 meters. Mariners should navigate with caution and avoid areas with thunderstorms. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea should refrain from sailing during these dates.
