
The Meteorological Department issues its 5th warning concerning the storm "Maysak" expected to make landfall near Nanning city in southern China around 4–5 July, influencing increased and heavy rainfall in Thailand, particularly in the northern, northeastern, eastern, and southern regions.
On 4 July 2026, the websiteof the Meteorological Departmentissued its 5th announcement regarding Tropical Storm "Maysak". As of 04:00 hrs today (4 July 2026), the storm was located in the South China Sea, with its center approximately 170 kilometers south of Nanning city, China, at latitude 20.3°N and longitude 109.0°E. Maximum wind speeds near the center are about 74 kilometers per hour. The storm is moving north-northwest at 20 kilometers per hour and is expected to make landfall near Nanning city in southern China between 4–5 July 2026. The storm's center will not enter Thailand.
Due to the influence of Tropical Storm "Maysak" and a monsoon trough passing over northern and upper northeastern Thailand, combined with a fairly strong southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, rainfall will increase and some areas will experience heavy to very heavy rain, especially in the northern, upper northeastern, eastern, and southern regions. On 5–6 July 2026, the upper northern and upper northeastern regions will continue to have heavy to very heavy rain in some areas.
Sea conditions in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand will intensify, with waves 2–3 meters high in the upper Andaman Sea and exceeding 3 meters in areas with thunderstorms. In the lower Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand, waves will be about 2 meters high and exceed 2 meters in thunderstorm areas. Mariners are advised to navigate cautiously and avoid sailing in areas with thunderstorms. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea are advised not to depart during these times.
