
The Meteorological Department issued Announcement No. 6 updating the path of Typhoon "Maysak," which is expected to make landfall near Nanning City in southern China tomorrow (5 July). Check which provinces are affected to prepare for heavy rain and seas with waves 2-3 meters high.
.Meteorological DepartmentAnnouncement on Typhoon "Maysak" No. 6 states that at 10:00 today (4 July 2026), Tropical Storm "Maysak" is located in the upper South China Sea, centered about 150 kilometers south of Nanning City, China, at latitude 20.2°N and longitude 107.9°E. It has maximum sustained winds near the center of approximately 74 km/h, moving north with a slight westward drift at 15 km/h. The storm is expected to make landfall near Nanning, southern China, tomorrow (5 July 2026). The storm's center will not enter Thailand.
Due to the influence of Typhoon "Maysak" and a monsoon trough crossing northern and upper northeastern Thailand, combined with a fairly strong southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, heavy to very heavy rain is expected in some areas, especially in the north, upper northeast, east, and south. On 5-6 July 2026, heavy to very heavy rain will continue in the upper northern and upper northeastern regions.
Waves and winds in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand will intensify. The upper Andaman Sea will have waves 2-3 meters high, exceeding 3 meters in areas with thunderstorms. The lower Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand will see waves about 2 meters high, exceeding 2 meters where thunderstorms occur. Mariners are advised to navigate cautiously and avoid sailing in thunderstorm areas. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea should refrain from going out during these times.
