Heavy Rain Causes Foam Waste to Flood and Collapse Village Wall, Affecting Residents in Bo Win

Images reveal foam waste flooding and smashing through a village wall after heavy rain struck Bo Win, causing distress to several households. Meanwhile, the Bo Win Subdistrict Administrative Organization quickly moved to clear the area.

On 4 July 2026, reporters reported that in the morning, the retaining wall of the Boonraksa View 2 village project in Village No. 7, Bo Win subdistrict, Si Racha district, Chonburi province, collapsed after heavy rain throughout the night. The water carried foam debris—components from refrigerators and freezers—from a waste sorting site adjacent to the village, flooding into the project area, spreading debris widely and damaging several residents' homes.

Following the incident, Bo Win Subdistrict Administrative Organization officials and related agencies rushed to inspect the area, clear foam debris, and open drainage channels to alleviate residents' distress. They also prepared to survey and assess the damage caused.

Mr. Arthit Inprasith, chairman of Boonraksa View 2 village, revealed that the land behind the village is privately owned, with the owner renting lots to a foreign operator who runs a long-term waste sorting business focusing on old refrigerators and freezers. After valuable parts are removed, large amounts of foam waste are accumulated on site, forming a massive pile.

When heavy rain fell, the foam waste was swept together into a large mass and pressed against the rear retaining wall of the village, causing the wall to collapse in a long section and allowing floodwaters to inundate residents' homes. At least one house was damaged, and many households were affected by the water and foam debris entering their living areas.

The village has regularly experienced rainfall before but never such a severe incident. It is believed the main cause was the accumulation of large foam waste piles, which absorb water and were swept by currents with great force, exerting massive pressure that broke the village wall.

Residents are demanding that government agencies urgently investigate the waste sorting operations, ensure waste collection and disposal comply with legal standards, promptly assess the damage, and develop measures to prevent similar incidents in the future to ensure community safety. Updates will be provided as the situation develops.
