"Meteorological Department" Issues 7th warning for 4-6 July 2026 regarding the influence of "Tropical Storm Maysak" causing heavy to very heavy rainfall in some parts of Thailand


On 4 July 2026The Meteorological Departmentannounced about"Tropical Storm Maysak"7th bulletin stating that at 16:00 today, Tropical Storm Maysak (MAYSAK) was located in the upper South China Sea, approximately 100 kilometers south of Nanning city, southern China, at latitude 20.6°N and longitude 107.7°E. The maximum sustained winds near the center were about 83 kilometers per hour. The storm is moving northwest at 15 kilometers per hour and is expected to make landfall near Nanning city, southern China, tonight (4 July 2026). The storm center will not directly enter Thailand.

Due to the influence of Tropical Storm Maysak and the monsoon trough passing over upper northern Thailand and upper Laos, combined with a fairly strong southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, heavy to very heavy rain is expected in some areas, especially in northern, upper northeastern, and eastern regions from 4 to 6 July 2026.

Waves and winds in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand will intensify. The upper Andaman Sea will have waves 2-3 meters high, exceeding 3 meters in areas with thunderstorms. The lower Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand will have waves about 2 meters high, rising above 2 meters where thunderstorms occur. Mariners are urged to navigate with caution and avoid areas with thunderstorms. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea should refrain from leaving shore during these dates and times.
