Meteorological Department Issues Tropical Storm Maysak Bulletin No. 11, Warns of Heavy Rain on 5-6 July 2026

The Meteorological Department issued Tropical Storm Maysak Bulletin No. 11, announcing it will weaken into a tropical depression and then into a strong low-pressure area in sequence. It also identified areas expected to experience heavy rain on 5-6 July 2026.

On 5 July 2026, the Meteorological Department released Bulletin No. 11 regarding Tropical Storm Maysak, stating that at 4:00 p.m. today (5 July 2026) Tropical Storm Maysak (MAYSAK) was centered near Nanning City, Guangxi Province, China, at latitude 23.2 degrees north and longitude 108.8 degrees east. It had maximum sustained winds near the center of about 75 kilometers per hour, moving north-northeast at 15 kilometers per hour. It is expected to weaken into a tropical depression and then into a strong low-pressure area, dissipating over southern China in the near future.

Due to the influence of Tropical Storm Maysak and a monsoon trough crossing Myanmar, Laos, and northern Vietnam, combined with a fairly strong southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, heavy to very heavy rain is expected in Northern, Upper Northeastern, Central, and Eastern regions during 5-6 July 2026, while rainfall in the South will decrease.

Winds and waves in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand will strengthen, with waves in the upper Andaman Sea reaching 2-3 meters, and over 3 meters in areas with thunderstorms. Waves in the lower Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand will be about 2 meters high, exceeding 2 meters in thunderstorms. Mariners are advised to navigate cautiously and avoid sailing in areas of thunderstorms. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea should refrain from going out to sea during these days.

Provinces expected to be affected by heavy rain include:
