Pathum Thani Van Carrying Students Crashes Into Utility Pole, Injuring 13

In Pathum Thani, a student transport van lost control and crashed into a roadside utility pole, knocking it down and injuring 13 people. Students reported that the driver appeared drowsy and suddenly swerved to avoid a trailer parked beside the road.

At 07:30 on 6 July 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Namchok Duangsuwan, investigating officer at Pak Khlong Rangsit Police Station, received a report of a student transport van losing control and crashing into a roadside utility pole, causing multiple injuries. The incident occurred on a road inside Muang Ek Village Project, Village No. 7, Lak Hok Subdistrict, Mueang District, Pathum Thani Province. He promptly went to the scene with traffic police from Pak Khlong Rangsit Police Station, Ruamkatanyu Foundation rescue workers, and Hong Sakul volunteers.

At the scene, a Toyota van with red license plate K-1076 from Uthai Thani, used to transport students of Wat Nawang School, was found having violently collided with a roadside utility pole, which was knocked down. Inside the van, 13 injured people were found, including 12 male high school students from Wat Nawang School and the van driver. Rescue workers from Ruamkatanyu Foundation quickly assisted and distributed the injured to various hospitals: Krung Siam Saint Carlos Hospital, Paolo Rangsit Hospital, and Rangsit Medical Hospital.

Interviewed students traveling in the van revealed there were 17 students onboard. Before the accident, they noticed the driver appeared drowsy. Upon reaching the accident site, a trailer was parked by the roadside. The van suddenly swerved to avoid it, lost control, mounted the sidewalk, and struck the utility pole. Once the vehicle stopped, the students quickly opened the doors and fled. The student sitting at the front saw sparks and also quickly escaped.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Namchok Duangsuwan from Pak Khlong Rangsit Police Station inspected and photographed the accident scene as evidence. However, they must wait for the van driver's condition to stabilize before conducting a detailed interview to determine the true cause of the accident, following legal procedures.
