In Uthai Thani, the price of size 0 and size 1 eggs has risen by 5 baht per tray. Vendors believe prices for other sizes will definitely increase soon. For now, customer traffic remains strong because the “Thai Chuey Thai Plus” program is still in effect.
The network of egg-laying chicken cooperatives announced a price increase for mixed eggs at the farm gate by 20 satang per egg, or 6 baht per tray (from 3.60 baht to 3.80 baht per egg), effective 6 July 2026. This marks the highest price in two years.
At 08:30 on 6 July 2026, reporters surveyed egg prices at Nara Egg Shop, located at the Kaset Market, commonly known as the Tharot Market, near the Bus Terminal in Mueang District, Uthai Thani Province. Ms. Panadda Supasukon, 44, the shop owner, said the announcement forced the shop to raise prices for size 0 eggs from 150 baht to 155 baht per tray, and size 1 eggs from 140 baht to 145 baht per tray. Prices for sizes 2 through 5 have not yet increased.
Current retail prices are 130 baht per tray for size 2, 120 baht for size 3, 110 baht for size 4, and 100 baht for size 5. The egg price increase directly impacts made-to-order food vendors who buy eggs daily for cooking. Ms. Panadda expects sizes 2 to 5 to also rise by 5 baht per tray soon, consistent with the cooperative network's announcement.
Ms. Panadda also said that customers have not complained about higher egg prices because most still use the Thai Chuey Thai Plus (60/40) subsidy. The shop remains busy throughout the day, with food vendors and homemakers continuing to buy eggs. However, if the subsidy use ends this month, sales are expected to decline naturally due to the overall high cost of living. This price hike is the highest this year so far. It remains uncertain whether more increases will follow, but if they do, the shop’s sales will likely drop as consumers tighten their budgets to afford other essentials.
