The Thai Army spokesperson firmly stated that the "explosion at the Cambodia border" was not an act by "Thai soldiers," advising that Cambodia should check the discipline of its own forces and avoid making unfounded accusations or spreading distorted news.
7 July 2026 GMT+7Army Spokesperson TeamThe Army Spokesperson Team posted a message stating that following the Cambodian Ministry of Defense spokesperson's announcement on 6 July 2026, it was reported that on 5 July 2026 at 12:35 p.m., an explosion occurred near the border area of Thmor Doen village, Udor Meanchey Province, injuring four Cambodian personnel. The statement also implied that the incident happened after a confrontation between Cambodian and Thai patrol units near the barbed wire line.
Major General Winthai Suwaree, Thai Army spokesperson, addressed the matter highlighting three key points.
1. Cambodia should report facts honestly to their commanders and not blame Thai forces without clear evidence, especially when the incident may have resulted from negligence or lack of discipline causing harm to their own personnel.
2. Thailand reaffirms strict adherence to the framework and agreements between the two sides, especially during the ceasefire period. The use of weapons remains a last resort under international rules of engagement, permitted only for self-defense in imminent threat situations. Therefore, the incident claimed by Cambodia could not have been caused by Thai forces.
3. Cambodia is urged to stop spreading distorted news, particularly accusations against Thailand, as this undermines the atmosphere and efforts toward peaceful conflict resolution desired by both countries.
