Large waste issues—such as old mattresses, used furniture, broken electrical appliances, or other bulky discarded items—often pose a headache for Bangkok residents, as these cannot be disposed of with regular daily garbage. This sometimes leads to illegal dumping in vacant lots or canals, which harms the environment and significantly obstructs Bangkok's water drainage system.
/ The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has therefore continued to drive policies for cleanliness and city organization by announcing the locations for the "Scheduled Drop-off and Collection of Large Waste" on 11-12 July 2026. This aims to facilitate residents to dispose of large unwanted items free of charge.
Check locations and preparation steps here before risking fines for improper disposal. Find the nearest point and use the service, along witha recommended platformfor "waste buying"that teaches how to sell waste at home for easy extra income. Residents are asked to place large waste and unwanted items at the designated pickup point in front of their residence before 08:30 to await collection by staff between 09:00 and 12:00 on the scheduled day.
The BMA will collect large waste on 11-12 July, with pickups in different districts each day. Confirm the dates and district locations as follows.
It is recommended that residents who want to dispose of large waste sort the items properly before disposal, such as furniture, electrical appliances, and sports equipment over 1 meter. Cut or shorten heavy pieces, separate parts, and bundle smaller items neatly. Also, prepare your ID card to show to officials (electricity or water bills can be used as alternatives).
1. Bring waste to the designated collection point.
2. Present identification to confirm ownership.
3. Officials will collect and transport the waste to disposal sites free of charge.
Additionally, if you have a large quantity of bulky waste and live far from scheduled points, you can request service from the Sanitation and Public Parks Department at any district office by paying a fee according to official regulations. Scan the QR CODE to contact the sanitation department of all 50 districts.
Warning: Improper disposal obstructs Bangkok’s drainage system and is punishable under the Cleanliness Act with a fine of 2,000 baht./Disposal outside designated containers or locations carries a fine of 10,000 baht. Dumping into waterways violates Penal Code Section 380.
