"Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation" , issues a warning for 19 provinces in the Central and Southern regions to monitor for flash floods and sudden flooding from 10 to 15 July 2026.
On 10 July 2026, Mr. Theerapat Kachamat, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, stated that the Central Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command (CDPMC) has been monitoring weather conditions and assessing risk factors. The Meteorological Department issued Announcement No. 2 (118/2569) on 9 July 2026 at 05:00 hrs, warning of strong winds over the Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand, and heavy to very heavy rain over the western Southern region, western Central region, and Eastern region (effective 10 - 15 July 2026).
From 10 to 15 July 2026, the southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand will be strong, resulting in strong winds in the upper Andaman Sea with waves 2 - 4 meters high. Areas with thunderstorms may see waves exceeding 4 meters. The upper Gulf of Thailand and lower Andaman Sea will have waves 2 - 3 meters high, with thunderstorm areas seeing waves over 3 meters. Between 11 and 14 July 2026, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in parts of the western Southern region, western Central region, and Eastern region, with risks of flash floods, sudden flooding, waterlogging, landslides, and strong winds from 10 to 15 July 2026, detailed as follows:
The Central Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command (CDPMC) under the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has coordinated with 19 provinces and regional disaster prevention centers in risk areas to closely monitor the situation and prepare for response. Officials are instructed to continuously monitor weather, rainfall, and water conditions, especially at natural tourist sites like waterfalls and caves. If risks arise, warnings must be issued and access to these sites closed.
In the event of strong winds and waves, relevant agencies must issue warnings or install signals along coastal areas to strictly prohibit swimming. Fishermen, boat operators, and passenger vessel companies are advised to exercise extreme caution. If conditions worsen, vessel operations may be banned entirely. Officials will monitor risk areas and assist the public 24 hours a day.
Additionally, temporary shelters must be prepared to accommodate evacuees. Agencies responsible for providing food, drinking water, and essential supplies must ensure sufficient stocks for shelters. Public communications should encourage people to closely follow official updates and warnings, prepare accordingly, and strictly follow government advice.
For further information, people can follow alerts via the "THA DISASTER ALERT" app and report emergencies through the Line account "DDPM Report 1784" or call the 24-hour emergency hotline 1784 for assistance coordination.
