Division 9 has launched the “Development Project to Solve Drug and Poverty Problems,” integrating three sectors to train seven core occupations, aiming to break the drug cycle and restore sustainability to urban communities in the city.
On 10 July 2026, at Thonburi University and Virat Farm Community Enterprise in Nong Khaem, following the administrative policies of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Police General Kittirat Phanphet, Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police, the National Police Office’s 2026 fiscal year management emphasizes all affiliated units to focus on preventing and suppressing drugs—both small-scale local cases, major cases, and networks—as well as prioritizing the Sustainable Subdistrict project in line with the government's urgent policy.
Under the direction of Police Major General Samart Promchart, Commander of Division 9, and Police Colonel Theerachai Dedkhad, Deputy Commander, a comprehensive and ongoing approach to solving drug problems is being implemented, starting with drug suppression measures. The operational results for fiscal year 2026 (from 1 October 2025 to the present) are as follows:
1. Arrested 1,509 drug cases, including 861 serious drug offenses.
2. Seized assets totaling 159,552,131 baht.
3. Investigated and issued 30 arrest warrants for conspiracy cases involving 30 networks.
In terms of drug prevention, Division 9 continuously implements the Sustainable Subdistrict project to comprehensively address drug problems according to the national strategy, aiming to strengthen communities sustainably. In 2022, Nong Khang Phlu and Phetkasem Police Stations were selected among the top 3 sustainable communities of the Metropolitan Police Bureau. In 2023, Lak Song Police Station was selected among the top 3 and praised by the Police Commissioner in a meeting as a model Buddhist community. In 2024, Nong Khaem Police Station received an honor plaque for outstanding drug prevention and suppression at the Bangkok Metropolitan Government’s Rattanakosin Hall. In 2025, Phetkasem Police Station was honored at the TO BE NUMBER ONE Bangkok gathering for outstanding drug prevention and suppression efforts.
In 2026, Division 9 has begun advancing the Sustainable Subdistrict project to comprehensively address drug issues according to the national strategy, following a timeline starting in October 2025. The project has successfully completed the preparation and implementation phases and is now moving into the "sustainability handover" phase. This phase emphasizes integration with local network partners to deliver safe areas through strong operational mechanisms, enabling communities to take care of themselves and restore sustainable livelihoods to rehabilitated drug users through sustainable career creation.
Division 9 is fully committed to advancing the "sustainability handover" phase because it believes that "career opportunities" are the key to preventing rehabilitated individuals from returning to drug dependence and enabling true self-reliance. In cooperation with Thonburi University and Virat Farm Community Enterprise in Nong Khaem, they organized the "Development Project to Solve Drug and Poverty Problems in Urban Communities" on Friday, 10 July 2026, starting at 08:00, at Thonburi University and Virat Farm Community Enterprise. They collaborated with Peeraphong Ramphuengjit, Acting Expert Policy and Planning Analyst from the Office of the Narcotics Control Board Bangkok, to promote career development and prepare sustainable livelihoods for rehabilitated individuals and community members involved in solving drug problems.
The highlight is a skill training activity in seven occupations that generate real income, inviting rehabilitated individuals and community members to learn immediately applicable skills, including:
1. Mushrooms and mushroom products – learning cultivation and processing.
2. Making compost from worm castings – targeting the organic agriculture market.
3. Salted egg production – a special recipe that is easy to make and profitable to sell.
4. Basket weaving – creating value from handicrafts.
5. Thai dessert making – practicing culinary charm to create supplementary income.
6. Resin art – a creative art form that meets modern market demands.
7. Growing dave plants – a popular ornamental plant that is easy to care for and profitable.
This event is a crucial gear in the "sustainability handover" phase of the Sustainable Subdistrict project, aiming to solve urban drug and poverty problems in a concrete and sustainable way. Poverty and lack of opportunities are root causes of drug problems. Let us work together to transform rehabilitated individuals into "income earners" and build safe urban communities together.
The public is informed that drug tips can be reported 24/7 via hotline numbers 191 or 1386. Those interested in the above vocational training or who have children addicted to drugs and wish them to receive rehabilitation can contact any police station under Division 9 in their area for rehabilitation without prosecution, allowing them to start a new life free of a criminal record.
