On 11 Jul 2026, Mr. Yutthapong Damsrisuk, head of Thong Pha Phum National Park in Kanchanaburi Province, stated that Ms. Waritta Sanguansermsri, Governor of Kanchanaburi and Provincial Director, issued a weather warning for 10–15 Jul 2026. The southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand is strong, causing heavy to very heavy rain in several areas. Kanchanaburi is among the provinces monitoring for flash floods, sudden flooding, waterlogging, and landslides.
The rainfall station at Thong Pha Phum National Park recorded a cumulative 99 millimeters of rain on 11 Jul 2026, a considerable amount. This caused rapid rises in water levels in various streams due to continuous rain since 10 Jul and throughout the night in the park area. Consequently, flash floods flowed into Jok Kradin Waterfall, a famous tourist spot in the park, raising water levels with swift currents and turbid water from sediment, making it unsafe for swimming currently.
Nevertheless, tourists can still walk to admire the waterfall’s beauty but are urged to strictly follow officials’ instructions and avoid swimming or approaching fast-flowing water areas for safety.
Thong Pha Phum National Park advises tourists planning to visit Jok Kradin Waterfall during this period to closely monitor warnings and updates from the park. Once conditions return to normal, the park will promptly announce it.
Additionally, the Khao Chang Phueak nature trail, another key attraction of Thong Pha Phum National Park, remains closed for its annual rest period to restore natural resources and ensure tourist safety during the rainy season, which carries risks of flash floods, landslides, and slippery trails.
Thong Pha Phum National Park plans to reopen the Khao Chang Phueak nature trail for tourism during the high season from November to January. The park will announce the reopening date and reservation details through its official channels in advance.
The park requests all tourists to closely follow updates from Thong Pha Phum National Park and comply with officials’ advice to ensure safe travel and tourism experiences.
