"Meteorological Department" issued the 7th warning of "very heavy rain" in the western southern region, western central region, and eastern region during 11-15 July 2026
11 July 2026The Meteorological Departmentannounced "Strong winds and waves in the Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand, along with heavy to very heavy rain in the western southern region, western central region, and eastern region." The 7th announcement is effective until 15 July 2026, stating that during 11-15 July 2026, the southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand will strengthen.
This will cause strong waves in the upper Andaman Sea, with heights of 2-4 meters, and over 4 meters in areas with thunderstorms. The upper Gulf of Thailand and lower Andaman Sea will have waves 2-3 meters high, with higher waves over 3 meters in thunderstorm areas. Fishermen in these seas are urged to navigate cautiously and avoid sailing in stormy conditions. Small boats should refrain from going out to sea during this period.
From 11-14 July 2026, the western southern region, western central region, and eastern region will experience heavy to very heavy rain in some areas, especially in Ranong, Phang Nga, Chanthaburi, Trat, and Kanchanaburi provinces. Residents there should be cautious of dangers from heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rainfall, which may cause flash floods and mountain runoff, particularly in hillside areas near waterways and low-lying plains.
Meanwhile, Typhoon Bavi in the East China Sea is expected to make landfall on the eastern coast of Zhejiang Province, China, around 11-12 July 2026. This typhoon will not move into Thailand and thus will not directly affect Thailand's weather, but it will strengthen the southwest monsoon winds covering Thailand. Travelers to these areas should check weather conditions before traveling during this period.
For safety and to minimize potential impacts, the public is advised to plan their activities and travel cautiously during this period. They should follow announcements from the Meteorological Department and can access information at the department's website http://www.tmd.go.th or call 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182, available 24 hours a day.
