"Meteorological Department" Final announcement warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall from 13-15 July 2026; check which provinces will be affected.
13 July 2026Meteorological DepartmentAnnounces "Strong waves and winds in the Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand, along with heavy to very heavy rainfall in the southern west coast, western central region, and eastern region." Announcement No. 11, effective until 15 July 2026, states that from 13-15 July 2026, the southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand will begin to weaken but remain fairly strong.
The Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand will have waves 2-3 meters high; in areas with thunderstorms, waves may be higher than 3 meters. In the lower Gulf of Thailand, waves will be about 2 meters high, with higher waves over 2 meters where thunderstorms occur. Mariners in these waters are advised to navigate cautiously and avoid sailing in thunderstorm areas. Small boats should refrain from leaving shore during these days.
Meanwhile, the northern, northeastern, and southern regions will experience heavy rain in some areas, with the eastern region seeing particularly heavy rain in some places, especially Chanthaburi and Trat provinces. This is due to the monsoon trough crossing Myanmar, upper northern Thailand, and upper Laos, while the southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand remains fairly strong.
For safety and to reduce potential impacts, residents in these areas should beware of dangers from heavy to very heavy rainfall and accumulated rain that may cause flash floods and forest runoff, especially in foothill areas near waterways and lowlands. Residents are advised to plan their lives and travel carefully during this period and to follow announcements from the Meteorological Department.
