Weather Today: Thunderstorms in Some Areas of Thailand, 20% Rain Coverage in Bangkok and Surrounding Areas

The Meteorological Department forecasts that Thailand will experience thunderstorms in some areas due to the southwest monsoon still covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, while a low-pressure system covers northern Vietnam. The public is advised to be cautious of thunderstorm hazards.


On 19 July 2026, the website of the Meteorological Department released the daily weather forecast. General weather conditions: Thailand will have thunderstorms in some areas as the southwest monsoon continues to cover the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, while a low-pressure system covers northern Vietnam. Citizens are advised to be cautious of thunderstorm dangers.


Regarding sea conditions, the upper Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand have moderate winds with waves 1-2 meters high, while the lower Andaman Sea has waves around 1 meter high. In areas with thunderstorms, waves may exceed 2 meters. Fishermen are urged to navigate carefully and avoid sailing in thunderstorm areas.

Northeastern region

Thunderstorms cover 20% of the area, mostly in Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, and Ubon Ratchathani provinces. Minimum temperatures range from 23-25 degrees Celsius, maximum temperatures from 34-37 degrees Celsius. Winds are southwest at 10-20 km/h.


Central region

Thunderstorms cover 20% of the area, mostly in Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, and Nakhon Pathom provinces. Minimum temperatures range from 23-26 degrees Celsius, maximum temperatures from 35-37 degrees Celsius. Winds are southwest at 10-20 km/h.


Eastern region

Thunderstorms cover 30% of the area, mostly in Nakhon Nayok, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat provinces. Minimum temperatures range from 23-26 degrees Celsius, maximum temperatures from 32-36 degrees Celsius. Winds are southwest at 15-35 km/h. Seas have waves 1-2 meters high, with waves exceeding 2 meters in thunderstorm areas.


Southern region (east coast)

Thunderstorms cover 30% of the area, mostly in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat provinces. Minimum temperatures range from 23-26 degrees Celsius, maximum temperatures from 34-36 degrees Celsius. Winds are southwest at 15-30 km/h. Seas have waves about 1 meter high, with waves exceeding 1 meter offshore and more than 2 meters in thunderstorm areas.


Southern region (west coast)

Thunderstorms cover 30% of the area, mostly in Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Satun provinces. Minimum temperatures range from 24-26 degrees Celsius, maximum temperatures from 32-34 degrees Celsius. From Phang Nga northward: southwest winds at 15-35 km/h, seas have waves 1-2 meters high, with waves over 2 meters in thunderstorm areas. From Phuket southward: southwest winds at 15-30 km/h, seas have waves about 1 meter high, with waves exceeding 2 meters in thunderstorm areas.
