On 21 July 2026, reporters covered the atmosphere of those appealing after losing eligibility for the State Welfare Card program in the province. Mrs. Ngao Rokphai, 69, a resident of Moo 2, Sakad Klang village, Sakad Subdistrict, Pua District, Nan Province, who was poor with chronic hypertension and diabetes, and held a disability ID for mobility impairment, hired a car to go with villagers to appeal the poverty welfare card eligibility at the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) Pua branch.

After finishing, Mrs. Ngao began to stagger, fainted, and collapsed. People nearby gave initial first aid and called emergency number 1669 before taking her to Pua Hospital, where she later died around 4:00 AM that day.


Meanwhile, sources reported that Grandma Ngao came down the mountain to appeal the poverty welfare card, queued since 1 PM, before fainting and dying at about 4:30 AM.
