In the case where a mother of a fourth-grade student at a private school in Lam Luk Ka District, Pathum Thani Province, posted about her son losing consciousness in the school's infirmary after he told a teacher during lineup that he had neck, stomach, and headache pains. The school called the parents to pick him up. The mother took about 20 minutes to arrive, but found her son unconscious, with a bluish complexion, and unresponsive. He was then taken to Siriraj Hospital, where doctors said the child had suffered prolonged oxygen deprivation, with his heart stopped for about 10 minutes, causing severe brain damage. He remains in the ICU.
The mother questioned what happened during the time before the parents arrived and the doctors requested CCTV footage from the school to assist in diagnosis, but the family has not been able to access this footage as previously reported.
On 21 July 2026, Ms. Natthaveephon Pipayawasri, Pathum Thani's Provincial Education Officer, visited the private school to investigate the facts. After discussions with the school administration, the school confirmed that on the day of the incident, a teacher closely monitored the student at all times and did not leave him alone. The school also stated it took the situation seriously and tried contacting multiple hospitals to arrange treatment until the parents arrived.
Regarding the parents' concerns about the school's refusal to release CCTV footage, the school explained that the CCTV system has been broken for three years and they currently lack the budget to repair it, as the cost would be in the hundreds of thousands of baht.
Ms. Natthaveephon added that according to regulations, whether government or private schools must have an infirmary and a nurse or teacher assigned to provide initial care for students' illnesses or injuries.
The authorities request more time to thoroughly investigate all parties involved. After completing the field investigation and compiling the data, a report will be sent to the Office of the Private Education Commission (OPEC), Ministry of Education, the supervising agency, for consideration. An official written statement clarifying the facts will be issued later.
