The Coastal Resources Office has filed a complaint against a tourist boat for violating the law by dropping its anchor on the coral reef at Koh Krok, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province, fearing harm to the marine ecosystem.
On 22 July 2026, the Marine and Coastal Resources Office Region 2, through the Chonburi Marine Conservation Center, reported that on 20 July 2026 at 13:45, they received a tip from volunteer sea protectors about a tourist boat anchoring on the coral reef at Koh Krok, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province, causing coral damage.
After receiving the report, officials deployed the marine and coastal resource vessel 212 to inspect the scene, finding the speedboat named 'Sunanta 1' operated by Mr. Theeraphong Srisawat.
Investigation revealed that the boat had dropped its anchor within the coral reef area, an act potentially damaging to coral resources and the marine ecosystem, violating laws and regulations including the Wildlife Preservation and Protection Act, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment's announcement defining protected areas and environmental protection measures in Bang Lamung and Sattahip Districts, Chonburi Province (2020), and the ministry's announcement on measures to protect coral resources from diving tourism activities.
Officials filed a complaint with the Pattaya City Police under daily report number 31, dated 21 July 2026 at 15:51, to pursue legal action against the offender according to applicable laws.
