The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) issued a statement explaining the incident of bus line 204 stopping on railway tracks at the Ratchaprarop Road intersection and confirmed disciplinary action has been taken against the bus driver.
On 24 July 2026, the BMTA released a statement regarding air-conditioned bus line 204 stopping on railway tracks at the Ratchaprarop Road intersection. The statement referred to social media reports on 23 July 2026 about bus line 204 (2-52), vehicle number 8-55128, stopping at a traffic light at the Ratchaprarop intersection.
BMTA investigated the facts using GPS data and summoned the driver and related personnel for questioning. Around 10:30 a.m., heading towards Krungthep Apiwat Station, the bus reached the Ratchaprarop intersection where the traffic light was green, and proceeded normally. However, just as it was about to cross the railway tracks, traffic abruptly stopped, causing the bus to become stuck across the railway tracks.
During the incident, an inspector was present on the bus and immediately took action to resolve the situation according to emergency safety procedures. Coordination was made with the State Railway of Thailand officials and local volunteers to facilitate and manage traffic until the bus could move forward. The driver was disciplined according to BMTA regulations.
The BMTA apologizes for the incident. It has reminded all drivers to strictly follow rules and regulations and exercise caution when assessing traffic conditions. All staff involved have been instructed to adhere strictly to the highest safety measures to ensure passenger confidence going forward.
