A durian orchard owner couple in Chanthaburi held their only son's ordination ceremony, using an aerial vehicle to distribute 300,000 baht in almsgiving, attracting lively participation from the local community.
On 26 July 2026 GMT+7, reporters described the lively atmosphere at Wat Takian Thong in Takian Thong subdistrict, Khao Khitchakut district, Chanthaburi province. Komson and Prakaidao Songkroh, locally known as “Sia Piak and So Gob,” major durian orchard owners covering several hundred rai in Khao Khitchakut and Kaeng Hang Maew districts, held an ordination ceremony for their only son, Sitthichai Songkroh, nicknamed “Pond.”
The ordination procession began joyfully with a parade truck from the Hai Thong Kham group playing music to enliven the event. Guests, relatives, and villagers happily danced together amid the hosts' atmosphere of pride and joy.
After the procession completed the traditional circumambulation around the ordination hall, almsgiving was conducted. Sia Piak and So Gob prepared almsgiving money totaling over 300,000 baht, packed into ten alms baskets and six large plastic baskets containing banknotes of 20, 100, 500, and 1,000 baht denominations.
Sia Piak then ascended an aerial vehicle to distribute the alms amid cheers and smiles from attendees. Next, So Gob rode a pickup truck to scatter alms around the ordination hall’s sides. The ceremony concluded with the novice and relatives distributing alms at the ordination hall’s entrance before the novice touched the doorframe and proceeded into the formal Buddhist ordination ritual.
