"Royal Project Traffic Police" joined forces "Highway Police and Korat Traffic Police" opened the route to transport "Heart No. 181" to Ramathibodi Hospital
On 28 July 2026, Police Lieutenant General Nithithorn Jintakanon, Commander of the Education Division and head of the public image enhancement team for the Traffic Police at the Traffic Management Center, Royal Thai Police, said that on the occasion of His Majesty the King's birthday on 28 July 2026, the Royal Thai Police humbly acknowledge His Majesty's grace and embrace the royal mission of alleviating suffering and promoting well-being as a guideline in their duties. All officers are dedicated to serving the public good and facilitating all life-saving missions, with organ transportation for transplantation being a crucial task where every minute counts for saving patients' lives.
In the early morning around 04:00, the Royal Project Traffic Police integrated operations with the Highway Police, Nakhon Ratchasima Traffic Police, and related agencies to facilitate traffic for transporting Heart No. 181 from Maharaj Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital to Ramathibodi Hospital. Thanks to public cooperation in clearing the way for the ambulance and organ transport convoy, the journey of 259 kilometers took just 1 hour 57 minutes, ensuring rapid and safe delivery.
Under normal traffic conditions without official facilitation or public cooperation, the journey would take about three and a half hours. Therefore, reducing travel time is a key factor in delivering the organ within the required timeframe, increasing the success rate of heart transplant surgery and patient survival.
Additionally, Police Lieutenant General Nithithorn stated that organ transport for transplantation is a mission where every second matters, since the heart can only remain viable for about 4 hours. The mission's success results from coordinated efforts among all units, including the Royal Project Traffic Police, Highway Police, Nakhon Ratchasima Traffic Police, medical agencies, and the public who readily opened the way, allowing ambulances to travel quickly and safely.
This mission is another example of the dedicated efforts of all police officers to honor His Majesty the King on his birthday.
