The Director-General of the Department of Rural Roads sent officials to cut trees, clear undergrowth, and improve the landscape around the concrete barrier storage site to make it open and visible after it was used as a lovers' rendezvous spot with condoms left scattered.
Following reports in various media outlets about the discovery of thousands of used condoms, lubricant packets, and bottles of water and energy drinks littered around the concrete barrier storage site beside the Department of Rural Roads, Ratchaphruek branch, along the new Ratchaphruek-Kanchanaphisek road, Bang Duea subdistrict, Mueang district, Pathum Thani province, the issue has drawn significant public criticism.
In the latest update today (30 July 2026), reporters visited the area and found more than 10 Department of Rural Roads staff cutting trees and clearing grass covering the site to open up the view and eliminate secluded spots, which previously were overgrown with vines and dense trees.
Mr. Pariwat Rodnuan, Director of Maintenance for Bangkok and Metropolitan Areas, revealed that officials were clearing the area by removing dense vines and trees that obscured visibility. He added that plans are underway to allocate a budget for constructing a fence similar to motorway barriers to mark the boundary and prevent unauthorized persons from entering. Importantly, this will stop the site from being used as a gathering spot for sexual activities in the future.
