Residents of Wung Kasang are saddened upon hearing that “Hlun Solo,” a famous YouTuber, died in Georgia. He had recently traveled there to film a video before the tragic event, which brought recognition to their small village.
Regarding the disappearance of the well-known YouTuber, “Hlun Solo”, after traveling to Georgia to film content, everyone, including Thais living in Georgia and social media users, continuously searched for him. It was later confirmed he died in a hotel, leading many to question the actual cause of his death.
In his latest video, “Hlun Solo” posted onYouTube,he filmed content at Wung Kasang Village, Moo 10, Pong Nam Ron subdistrict, Klong Lan district, Kamphaeng Phet province, in mid-June 2026. The video was uploaded three weeks ago and has since garnered over 3 million views.
The video shows a remote rural village lacking electricity, phone signal, and internet. It captures local lifestyles and tourist attractions. Before the video, the village was unknown, but afterward, tourists began visiting steadily.
At 14:00 on 30 July 2026, reporters visited the village, about 60 kilometers from Kamphaeng Phet city, to retrace “Hlun Solo’s” content journey. The trip took about an hour, with mobile signals cut off from the outside world starting at the Klong Wang Chao National Park entrance. The road was found to be improved, alternating between concrete and hard dirt.
The village has 115 households with 360 residents. Communication is via radio, electricity comes from solar cells, and internet is purchased by the hour: 10 baht for 1 hour, 25 baht for 3 hours, and 39 baht daily. Villagers carry a knife when working in fields for protection and bamboo cutting. Everyone knows “Hlun” well as a famous YouTuber with many followers, and they followed the news from his disappearance to confirmation of his death. They are deeply saddened, as his filming visit made everyone fond of him due to his good nature.
Mr. Anusorn Prasertsilp, 42, owner of a convenience store where Hlun bought items and filmed, said, “I feel very sad hearing the bad news of his death. He came alone to film in the village. His visit made everyone in the village say they loved him a lot. After the video was released, the village became well-known, attracting many tourists.”
Reporters went to the Pong Nam Ron (Wung Kasang) Early Childhood Development Center and met Ms. Pornpan Saengthongsri, 31, a childcare teacher. She said Hlun filmed for GULF company, which donated solar panels to provide electricity. Children and teenagers know Hlun through social media and were especially happy he participated in village activities and donated goods. They were shocked and saddened by his death, never imagining the filming would be his last visit. The children deeply mourned and found it hard to believe.
Though he was there briefly, they felt connected and fond of him. He greeted everyone warmly and was a kind YouTuber. His video made the village more known; some people in Kamphaeng Phet didn’t even know such a village existed. They hope more people will visit and enjoy it.
Reporters visited the home of a member of the Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO), Moo 10, who picked up Hlun for filming. Ms. Lian Rariab, 63, the SAO member’s mother-in-law, said, “Two months ago, my son-in-law took Hlun around the village for filming. They ate dinner together, and I cooked for him. He was very polite and well-mannered. After hearing the news, we were heartbroken. Though he stayed only one day and night, the village and I loved him like family. The video showed real village life without any fictional content. After the video was released, our village became more famous. We never imagined this would be his last visit; he even talked about coming back to eat again.”
Mr. Chawapho Sairngam, 45, SAO member of Moo 10, Pong Nam Ron, said, “When Hlun contacted me to pick him up for filming, I didn’t know who he was. Everyone along the route knew him and was very happy. After hearing the news, I couldn’t believe he would commit suicide. I believe someone harmed him.”
“Even though he was here only one day, I saw he was kind, caring, and well-liked. I noticed no medication for chronic illness in his bag, only filming equipment. After filming all day, we ate and talked at night. Hlun shared his experiences and said he traveled alone. Before filming anywhere, he made sure it was safe. He told me he planned to quit YouTube in four years, having saved enough to support his family. I took care of him until the filming was done and sent him back.”
“After the video, more people knew about our village, especially the Tham Nam Lod cave attraction. Before leaving, he promised to visit again. He said he would continue traveling abroad. I’m saddened by what happened to his family. I don’t believe he took his own life and hope whoever harmed him faces justice. I think he was murdered.”
