Doing good for the nation continues a legacy of thought, uniting volunteers to restore Khao Khayai from the “Desert Mountain” to “Heavenly Mountain.”
At 3:30 p.m. on 31 July 2026, Mr. Niroot Khemngoen, Director of the Chai Nat Primary Educational Service Area Office, along with executives, teachers, and educational staff from the Mueang 2 Education Coordination Center, visited the area to conduct activities. “Uniting volunteer efforts to develop the Khao Khayai forest” and volunteer service activities to honor His Majesty the King on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty’s birthday on 28 July 2026, fiscal year 2026. “Scouts always help others—doing good, being able, doing it immediately.” Dr. Pichet Wantong, Inspector General of the Ministry of Education, along with his team, honored the event by joining the activities at Khao Khayai area, Khao Tha Phra Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chai Nat Province.
This activity also continues the Khao Khayai restoration project, which is based on the concept pioneered by Mr. Sutthipong Juljarern, former Permanent Secretary of the Interior Ministry, who initiated the transformation of the area from “Desert Mountain” back into “Heavenly Mountain.” The aim is to create an ecosystem suitable for wildlife habitation and a recreational and exercise area for the people of Chai Nat Province.
The Chai Nat Primary Educational Service Area Office has set a plan for all 12 education coordination centers under its jurisdiction to take turns participating in volunteer activities every Friday continuously, demonstrating unity and contributing to the conservation of local natural resources.
Mr. Sutthipong Juljarern shared that the project to restore the Desert Mountain into Heavenly Mountain at Khao Khayai, Chai Nat Province, began in 2015 when he was the governor of Chai Nat. He invited like-minded people to join the restoration efforts. Today, Khao Khayai has transformed positively; various planted trees have grown and started providing shade. This reflects the commitment, cooperation, and combined efforts of government officials, private sectors, and citizens who have planted and cared for the trees in the area.
As citizens repaying the nation, there is nothing better than joining volunteer work to do good and benefit society and the country. Such activities also fulfill His Majesty the King’s royal initiative to continue, preserve, and develop the land.
. “Khao Khayai” is a public benefit area that was abandoned, dry, and subject to illegal soil excavation. It covers about 1,000 rai, including approximately 157 rai of hill terrain and about 843 rai of flat land at the foot of the hill. It is located near the Chai Nat Sports Stadium (Khao Phlong), about 8.6 kilometers from downtown Chai Nat.
