On 3 August 2026, Mr. Theerapat Kachamat, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, stated that the Central Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command (CDPMC) has been monitoring weather conditions and risk factors. The Southern Meteorological Center for the West Coast issued Announcement No. 1 (47/2569) on heavy rain and strong winds in the upper Andaman Sea on 1 August 2026 at 05:00. It stated that from 3 to 7 August 2026, the southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea and the western southern region will strengthen, causing increased rainfall and heavy to very heavy rain in some areas.
Meanwhile, strong winds and waves will intensify in the Andaman Sea, with waves 2 to 3 meters high in the upper Andaman Sea, and over 3 meters in areas with thunderstorms. The lower Andaman Sea will have waves about 2 meters high, exceeding 2 meters in stormy areas. Areas expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall may face flash floods, sudden floods, waterlogging, landslides, and strong winds from 3 to 7 August 2026. Six provinces are on alert for flash floods, sudden floods, waterlogging, and landslides: Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Satun.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has coordinated with the six southern provinces — Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Satun — along with Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Centers Region 12 Songkhla and Region 18 Phuket to closely monitor the situation and prepare to respond. They have assigned staff to continuously track weather and water conditions in the area, and deployed operational teams and machinery to risk zones for prompt assistance to residents.
Natural tourist sites, especially waterfalls and caves, will be closed and access restricted if there is a risk of danger. In cases of strong winds and waves, relevant agencies will issue warnings or install alert signals along the coast to prohibit swimming and warn boat operators, captains, and transport service providers to exercise caution. If conditions worsen, a total ban on navigation will be considered. Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Centers will establish local War Rooms with staff monitoring and ready to assist residents around the clock.
Temporary shelters will be prepared to accommodate evacuees, stocked with sufficient food, drinking water, and essential supplies. Residents are urged to strictly follow government advice and warnings.
Residents can follow alerts via the "THA DISASTER ALERT" application and report emergencies through the Line account "DDPM Emergency 1784," as well as the 1784 emergency hotline, available 24 hours for coordination of assistance.
