Flash Floods Inundate Chok Chai Subdistrict, Doi Luang District Expected to Normalize Within 2 Hours

Flash floods swept through Chok Chai Subdistrict in Doi Luang District, with conditions expected to normalize within two hours. Officials are rushing to the area to aid affected residents.


At around 04:00 on 4 August 2026, reports indicated flash floods from Nam Ngam and Khun Mae Pong streams overflowed, flooding homes in Ban Don Ngam, Village 4, and Ban Mai Don Ngam, Village 11, Chok Chai Subdistrict, Doi Luang District, Chiang Rai Province. This affected residents living in low-lying and nearby areas. By 08:30, water levels in Village 4 had receded to normal.

In Village 11, standing floodwaters remain at approximately 50-80 centimeters but are steadily decreasing. It is expected the situation will return to normal within about two hours, provided no additional rainfall enters the area. Authorities have issued warnings to downstream villages 1, 7, 8, and 12 to prepare for potential impact from this water flow.

Local administrative organizations, community leaders, and disaster prevention officials are rapidly deploying to assist affected residents and are coordinating continuous monitoring of water levels. Residents in flood-prone areas near waterways are advised to closely follow official announcements and warnings and to prepare to move belongings to higher ground for safety.
