A fire broke out at a condominium in Soi Pattaya 7, prompting officials to urgently evacuate residents late at night. The unit owner suspects the cat stepped on the electric stove switch, as a similar incident had occurred before.
At 02:30 on 4 Aug 2026, the Pattaya Land Disaster Relief Radio Center received a report of a condominium fire at Soi Pattaya 7, Village No. 10, South Pattaya, Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. Upon receiving the call, police from Pattaya City Police Station, three fire trucks, and rescue units from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation in Pattaya were dispatched.
Upon arriving at the scene, heavy flames and thick smoke filled the building. The fire was in room 610 on the 6th floor. Officials quickly evacuated both Thai and foreign residents amid chaotic conditions.
Firefighters applied water to prevent the fire from spreading further. It took about two hours for the fire to be extinguished, leaving behind a burnt-out room and total loss of property inside. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Ms. May (a pseudonym), 35, the unit owner, said she was asleep when she smelled something burning and woke up to find flames near the electric stove in the kitchen. She quickly grabbed her phone and ran out, seeking help from neighbors and condo staff. However, the fire spread rapidly, forcing everyone to flee for their lives from the building.
The suspected cause is the cat frequently stepping on the electric stove switch, as this had happened before. Nevertheless, forensic police from Zone 2 in Chonburi Province will investigate further to determine the true cause of the fire.
