Two intoxicated young men were arrested for forcibly dragging a middle-aged woman, attempting to sexually assault her in a public restroom. The suspects admitted to pretending to be victims of robbery, thinking the police would not find out.
On 4 August 2026, it was reported that Police Colonel Kornpop Neththaisong, superintendent of Ban Fang Police Station, together with the investigative team, arrested Thanachot, or Fluke, 20, and Sitthichai, or Pipe, 21, on charges of jointly committing indecent acts against a person over 15 years old and unlawful detention.
This follows an incident at 9:00 p.m. on 2 August 2026, when a 39-year-old female victim reported to Police Lieutenant Colonel Nattanon Rattanawong, investigator at Ban Fang Police Station, that after exercising around Bueng Sawang in Ban Fang municipality, she was sitting by the pond when two young men on a white-blue motorcycle without license plates suddenly dragged her toward a public restroom to sexually assault her. Fortunately, good Samaritans intervened in time, and the suspects fled.
On the same night, at different times, Thanachot, or Fluke, 20, filed a complaint claiming he was robbed of his phone and cash near the road by Bueng Sawang. Police recorded the statement to investigate and identify the culprits.
The Ban Fang police superintendent said that after receiving the woman's report, investigators and patrol officers inspected the scene for clues on the two men who tried to assault the woman. CCTV footage showed two young men dragging the woman into the public restroom, which was secured as evidence. They also showed the footage and a photo of Fluke, who reported being robbed, to the woman. She identified Fluke as one of the two men who tried to assault her.
Police then tracked down Fluke at his home for questioning. During interrogation, Fluke confessed that on the night of the incident, he and Pipe bought alcohol and rode around on a motorcycle until they stopped by Bueng Sawang pond, where they saw the woman alone by the water. They approached and talked with her, then took advantage of her being distracted to drag her toward the restroom to sexually assault her. When someone saw them, they fled home but, fearing punishment, Fluke pretended to be a robbery victim and filed a false report, thinking the police would not find out. He then went home to sleep until police found him.
After further investigation, police brought the victim to identify both suspects, who she confirmed were the two men who dragged her from the pond to the public restroom to attempt the assault. The police have detained both suspects and handed them over to investigators for legal action.
