An old fuel tank exploded opposite Samrong Hospital in Ubon Ratchathani Province during dismantling, injuring three workers.
On 4 August 2026, a report confirmed an explosion at an old fuel station opposite Samrong Hospital, Samrong Subdistrict, Samrong District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. Workers were using a gas cutting tool to dismantle an old fuel tank when three individuals—Mr. Nirad, Mr. Khunphaen, and Mr. Dawroong—suffered minor injuries.
The incident occurred at 14:05 on 4 August, after Police Sub-Lieutenant Natthakit Pimphong, Investigation Officer of Samrong Police Station, was notified and reported to Police Colonel Anusart Thongperm, the station chief. Police and rescue teams promptly arrived to investigate the scene.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the fuel station had been closed for some time. The operator had hired a team of technicians to dismantle three old fuel tanks, starting work in the morning. At the time of the explosion, it is believed the technicians were using a gas cutting tool to open one of the old tanks, causing sparks to ignite vapors inside and trigger the blast. Fortunately, the explosion damaged only the fuel tank and adjacent wall, with no reports of serious injuries or fatalities beyond the three minor casualties.
Recently, doctors at the hospital examined the three injured workers and have cleared them to return home.
