The Meteorological Department has issued its 6th bulletin listing provinces to prepare for dangers from heavy to very heavy rain during 6-9 August 2026.
On 6 August 2026, the Meteorological Department reported a bulletin on strong winds in the upper Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand, along with heavy to very heavy rain across Thailand, effective from 6 to 9 August 2026, bulletin number 6.
Rainfall is increasing in the northern, northeastern, and eastern regions, with some areas experiencing heavy to very heavy rain. The central region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the southern region will see heavy rain in some areas. This is due to a monsoon trough passing through the upper northern and upper northeastern regions combined with a strong southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. The public is urged to be cautious of heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rainfall, which may cause flash floods and forest runoff, especially in foothill areas near watercourses and low-lying areas.
Strong winds prevail in the upper Andaman Sea with wave heights of 2-4 meters, and in thunderstorm areas, waves exceed 4 meters. The upper Gulf of Thailand has waves of 2-3 meters, with thunderstorm areas experiencing waves over 3 meters. Mariners in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand should navigate with caution and avoid sailing in thunderstorm areas. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand should refrain from leaving shore from 6 to 9 August 2026.
