7 August 2026 GMT+7 The Meteorological Department announced strong winds in the upper Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand, along with heavy to very heavy rain over Thailand (impact expected from 7 - 9 August 2026) in its 7th announcement, stating that In the northern, northeastern, and eastern regions, rainfall is increasing, with some areas experiencing heavy to very heavy rain. The central region including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the southern region have heavy rain in some areas due to a monsoon trough crossing the upper northern and northeastern areas combined with a strong southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. The public is urged to be cautious of dangers from heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rainfall, which may cause flash floods and mudslides, especially in foothill areas near waterways and lowlands.
In the upper Andaman Sea, strong winds create waves 2-4 meters high, with waves over 4 meters in areas with thunderstorms. The upper Gulf of Thailand has waves 2-3 meters high, with waves over 3 meters during thunderstorms. Mariners in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand should navigate cautiously and avoid areas with thunderstorms. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand should refrain from leaving port from 7–9 August 2026.
