A total of 16 people were injured in a car crash at the Kaeng Sian Subdistrict Early Childhood Development Center in Kanchanaburi Province. The driver reportedly suffered a flare-up of a chronic illness. The provincial governor rushed to visit the injured students and urged doctors to provide full medical care and attention to them.

At 11:45 a.m. on 7 August 2026, reporters received information that the 191 emergency center had been notified of a car crashing into the Early Childhood Development Center at Kaeng Sian Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Ban Nong Song Ton, Village No. 4, Kaeng Sian Subdistrict, Mueang District, Kanchanaburi Province. Following the report, the Mueang Kanchanaburi Police informed the Pitak Kanchan Foundation, which promptly dispatched personnel to the scene to assist the injured.
Initially, there were nearly 50 children at the center, all crying out in shock. The teachers and staff quickly evacuated all the children from the scene and handed them over to the foundation's team. Fourteen children were injured, along with the car driver and a passenger, totaling 16 people, all sent to Phaholpolpayuhasena Hospital. The remaining 20 unharmed children were released to their guardians who were called to pick them up.
Ms. Ampai Rittikamrop, the head of Kaeng Sian Subdistrict Administrative Organization, personally went to assist at the scene and promptly reported the situation to Mr. Sombun Phansombun, the district chief of Mueang Kanchanaburi.
At the scene, a black Honda Civic car registered in Kanchanaburi was found, driven by Mr. Chatchawan Pantham, a resident of Nong Khao Subdistrict, Tha Muang District, Kanchanaburi Province. Initial investigations revealed that he was driving from Village No. 6, Kaeng Sian, at high speed, lost control around a curve, and crashed into the center's wall, causing it to collapse. The vehicle then spun and ended up leaning against a banana tree behind the center. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the center and continue to interrogate the driver.
After the incident, more than 10 ambulances from the Pitak Kanchan Foundation quickly transported the injured children to Phaholpolpayuhasena Hospital. Fourteen children sustained injuries including head and lip lacerations and bruises from concrete debris thrown by the impact as the car crashed through the center's wall.
At the time of the accident, the children had just finished lunch and were taking their afternoon nap under the supervision of teachers. After the crash, the teachers immediately evacuated the children from the affected room and coordinated with the foundation volunteers to transport the 14 injured children to the hospital.
The male driver and his passenger, who are relatives, suffered minor injuries and were also taken to Phaholpolpayuhasena Hospital for treatment.
Preliminary findings indicate that before the crash, the driver was speeding when he suddenly experienced a flare-up of his chronic illness and lost consciousness while driving on the road behind the Early Childhood Development Center. This caused the car to veer off and crash into the wall at the rear of the center, specifically the children's sleeping room, injuring 14 children resting inside.
At 1:00 p.m., Ms. Waritta Sanguansermsri, Governor of Kanchanaburi Province, accompanied by Mr. Sombun Phansombun, district chief of Mueang Kanchanaburi, rushed to Phaholpolpayuhasena Hospital to visit the injured children, offering support to them, their parents, and families closely.
Governor Waritta Sanguansermsri stated she had instructed the doctors and nurses at Phaholpolpayuhasena Hospital to provide the best possible care to all injured individuals. She also coordinated with relevant agencies to thoroughly investigate the cause of the accident and ensure urgent assistance and compensation for the affected families.
All injured persons are now under medical care at Phaholpolpayuhasena Hospital. Updates on their condition and legal proceedings will be reported as they become available.
