A van carrying singers and musicians to perform at the "Taiban Land Camp" concert in Sisaket Province crashed into the rear of a six-wheeled crane truck, injuring a total of 11 people.
On 7 Aug 2016, Police Lieutenant Colonel Jaruwat Niyom, an investigator at Wang Hin Police Station, was notified of a van colliding with a six-wheeled crane truck causing multiple injuries. He promptly went to the scene along with rescue vehicles from Sisaket Hospital, Sawangjit Sisaket Thammasathan Rescue Unit, and Sisaket News Rescue Unit.
The accident site was on Highway 220 between Sisaket and Khukhan, near Ban Thang Sai, Thung Sawang Subdistrict, Wang Hin District, Sisaket Province. A six-wheeled crane truck was found overturned and severely damaged by the roadside, with two injured occupants inside.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that the six-wheeled crane truck, registered in Sisaket, was returning to the company after delivering steel to a village in Bu Sung Subdistrict, Wang Hin District, when the accident occurred. Nearby, a white Toyota van registered in Bangkok was heavily damaged and found off the road, with nine injured passengers.
The 39-year-old van driver told reporters that he was driving from Bangkok to deliver singers and musicians to a concert. The concert was the "Taiban Land Camp." It was scheduled to take place on a river island in Mueang District, Sisaket Province, on 7-8 Aug 2016. However, near the accident site, the driver suddenly lost control and collided with the rear of the six-wheeled crane truck before veering off the road. Fortunately, there were only injuries and no fatalities.
Police have already inspected the scene and will collect evidence before summoning those involved for detailed questioning to proceed with further actions. The preliminary cause is suspected to be driver fatigue or fainting, leading to the van hitting the rear of the six-wheeled crane truck, causing this accident.
Reporters obtained CCTV footage from a nearby house showing the accident at 13:05. The video shows the six-wheeled crane truck traveling in the left lane, followed by the van in the right lane, which then violently crashes into the rear of the crane truck. Locals are seen rushing out to witness the incident.
