A mysterious animal attacked a cow during the night, dragging away its internal organs, causing fear among local residents. Footprint analysis suggests it was a Ton wild boar.
On 8 August 2026, reports emerged after images circulated showing a severely injured cow. The distributor stated that an animal about the size of a calf, with white fur, attacked and bit the cow during the night before fleeing.
The cow reportedly died on the morning of 7 August due to severe injuries from its internal organs being dragged away and substantial blood loss. The incident happened the night of 6 August behind the house of Mr. Somphop Sommai in Nam Tok Subdistrict, Thung Song District, Nakhon Si Thammarat.
Earlier this morning, the news team inspected the scene and found villagers along with local administrative officials, village headmen, and community leaders monitoring the situation, fearing a predatory animal such as a tiger. The cow was found breathing weakly before ultimately dying.
Mr. Somkid Kalsuwan, the Thung Song district chief, inspected the site, offered support to the villagers, and brought experts to assist with the investigation.
After detailed examination of the footprints, it was determined that the animal attacking and biting the cow was likely a Ton wild boar, locally called “Moo Tok.” This animal is large and aggressive, a semi-predator feeding on both plants and animals. The footprints do not match those of predatory cats such as tigers or black panthers known to be in the area.
The location is adjacent to a highly fertile forest, where villagers cooperate closely in conservation efforts. This village is likely unique in Thailand for its large population of wild deer, which are left unhunted and unharmed, along with other wildlife. Consequently, predatory animals often roam this area.
