The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has issued Cell Broadcast alerts about heavy rain in several provinces, warning areas to be alert for flash floods, flash floods from mountain streams, and landslides. Residents are advised to move their belongings to higher ground, care for vulnerable groups, and follow news updates closely.
On 9 Aug 2026 GMT+7, reporters stated that due to heavy rain in many parts of the country, the DDPM has sent Cell Broadcast warnings today for several provinces as follows.
DDPM has warned of heavy rain in Wiang Pa Pao District with continuous rainfall expected. Residents should be alert for flash floods, flash floods from mountain streams, landslides, riverbank overflows, and flooding in low-lying and hillside areas, especially in San Sali Subdistrict and nearby areas. People are advised to move belongings to higher ground, relocate vehicles, secure valuables and important documents, beware of electric shock risks, and care for vulnerable groups.
DDPM warns that water levels in the Mekong River at Bueng Kan Province are expected to continue rising and may overflow in low-lying areas from 10 to 14 Aug 2026 GMT+7. Areas affected include Mueang Bueng Kan, Pak Khat, Bung Khla, and Bueng Khong Long districts. Residents living in low-lying areas along the Mekong River should move belongings to higher ground, relocate vehicles, care for vulnerable groups such as the elderly and bedridden patients, and closely follow official news in the area.
DDPM has warned that in Mueang Mae Hong Son District, continuous rain is expected. Residents should be alert for flash floods, flash floods from mountain streams, and landslides in low-lying and hillside areas, especially in Mok Champae, Huai Pha, Pang Mu, Pha Bong, and Huai Pong subdistricts and nearby areas. People are advised to move belongings to higher ground, relocate vehicles, secure valuables and important documents, beware of electric shock risks, and care for vulnerable groups.
DDPM has warned that water levels of the Nan River at station N.13A in Wiang Sa District are forecasted to rise by approximately 50 cm tonight. Residents living along the Nan River in Don Tan villages 2 and 14, Don Chai village 7 in Klang Wiang Subdistrict, and Lai Nan villages 1 and 8, Boon Rueang village 2 in Lai Nan Subdistrict, Wiang Sa District, should immediately move belongings and vehicles to higher ground. Those needing evacuation or assistance should contact local leaders and authorities. Vulnerable groups such as the elderly and bedridden patients should be relocated, and residents should closely monitor official updates.
DDPM has warned of heavy rain in Chiang Mai Province with continued rainfall expected. Residents should be alert for flash floods, flash floods from mountain streams, landslides, riverbank overflows, and flooding in low-lying and hillside areas, especially in Piang Luang, Mueang Nae, and Saen Hai subdistricts of Wiang Haeng District; Mueang Khong Subdistrict of Chiang Dao District; and Kued Chang Subdistrict of Mae Taeng District, along with nearby areas. People are advised to move belongings to higher ground, relocate vehicles, secure valuables and important documents, beware of electric shock risks, and care for vulnerable groups.
