At around 11:30 a.m. on 10 August 2026, reports stated that multiple gunshots were fired inside the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization, resulting in two injuries, including Pol. Col. Thongchai Yenprasert, Chief of the Nonthaburi PAO. The shooter was Mr. Chalerm Riewrang, former Nonthaburi MP.
Emergency responders and officers from Rattanathibet Police Station arrived to inspect the scene and detained Mr. Chalerm, the suspect. The injured were rushed to the hospital. The motive behind the shooting is under detailed investigation.
Pol. Col. Thongchai Yenprasert currently serves as Chief of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization. He was born on 20 February 1955. His education includes a Bachelor of Laws from Ramkhamhaeng University, graduated from the 9th class of the Police Cadet Academy, and holds an honorary Doctorate in Educational Administration from the Faculty of Education at Dhonburi Rajabhat University.
Most recently, on 11 February 2026, he received an honorary Doctorate in Political Science from Ramkhamhaeng University.
