At 09:20 on 11 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Pol. Col. Prut Jamruangsat, superintendent of Rattanathibet Police Station, brought Mr. Chalong Riewrang, a former multi-term MP and local politician in Nonthaburi Province, to Nonthaburi Provincial Court to request a 12-day detention during the first investigation phase from 11 to 22 Aug 2026 GMT+7. He faces four serious charges: premeditated murder, attempted murder, carrying a firearm in public without just cause, and discharging a firearm in public without just cause. The investigator also filed to oppose bail due to the heinous nature of the crime and its public attention.
Pol. Col. Prut Jamruangsat, superintendent of Rattanathibet Police Station, stated that during the detention request in the investigation phase, the investigator will oppose bail. He also noted that Mr. Chalong’s personal lawyer will notfile for bailat this stage either.
The custody transfer of Mr. Chalong to Bangkok Remand Prison will be handled by the Department of Corrections, which will assign special operations units to accompany him to the prison.
During the transfer of Mr. Chalong Riewrang from Rattanathibet Police Station to Nonthaburi Provincial Court, officers from Rattanathibet Police, wearing bulletproof vests both in and out of uniform, and special operations units from Nonthaburi Province, also wearingbulletproof vestsand armed with heavy weapons, escorted him in an armored vehicle, with two motorcycles leading and following the convoy.
During the transfer, reporters attempted to ask Mr. Chalong if he wished to make any statements; he did not answer and shook his head. However, when asked if he was stressed or concerned about his daughter, Mr. Chalong remained silent but nodded affirmatively to both questions before being escorted into the police vehicle. His expression showed a forced smile and worry before being driven away from Rattanathibet Police Station.
