A deeply sorrowful atmosphere as crowds gathered to bid farewell "Halun Solo" on his final journey, offering support to his family during the cremation ceremony at Rangsichatchawan Temple, Kalasin Province.
On 11 August 2026, reporters described the atmosphere at the cremation ceremony of Mr. Bowornthat Pengsuk, known as "Halun Solo," a 27-year-old famous backpacker YouTuber.
At 12:19 p.m., fans poured in to light incense in farewell to Halun’s spirit, presenting wreaths and donations to the family. The atmosphere was warm and supportive. The family had ordained nine novice monks, while reporters from many agencies have been continuously covering the arrival of Halun's body since the first day.
Famous influencer Dew Thanapat embraced Halun’s beloved backpack, saying, “This bag carried him through more than 50 countries. May he continue exploring the paths in heaven.”
Lottery vendors sold tickets, telling Halun’s fans present to watch the registration numbers on the hearse and the vehicle carrying the novice monks closely, hoping Halun might reward his fans who came to pay respects with a big fortune.
At 1:24 p.m., Halun Solo’s body arrived at Rangsichatchawan Temple, Somdet Subdistrict, Somdet District, Kalasin Province. The ceremony was led by the reverend Phra Ratchawachirakkhit (Thammayut) as the monastic chair and Mr. Suwan Khemthanaphet, governor of Kalasin Province, as the layman chair. Government officials, representatives from provincial and district agencies, private sector members, relatives, close friends, foreign friends, fans from Thailand and abroad, and local residents joined in large numbers to pay their respects and bid farewell. The hosts provided food and drinks throughout the day.
At 5:05 p.m., the cremation ceremony took place. Family members and many fans struggled to hold back tears, offering prayers and blessings for Halun to travel to a better afterlife.
