Search teams found the grandfather and grandson who entered Chiang Muan forest in Phayao Province to pick mushrooms and had been missing for 7 days. They were found weak from dehydration and were urgently taken to the hospital for thorough examination and treatment.
At 11:00 a.m. on 14 August 2026, the Joint Search Command Center of Chiang Muan Subdistrict Municipality, Chiang Muan District, Phayao Province, successfully located Mr. Nak Kamlue, 74, and Mr. Ramet Chandang, 20, residents of Ban Pin, Village No. 3, Chiang Muan Subdistrict, who had been lost deep in the forest for 7 days after entering to pick mushrooms.
Recently, the search operation team along with rescue personnel hastened to evacuate and transport both missing persons out of the deep forest successfully. Medical teams and healthcare staff from Chiang Muan Hospital, Chiang Muan District Public Health Office, and Ban Pin Subdistrict Health Promotion Hospital promptly assessed their condition and provided initial first aid.
Initially, both showed signs of fatigue due to several days without food and water but remained fully conscious and communicative. Medical staff administered intravenous fluids and conducted detailed vital sign checks before transporting them to Chiang Muan Hospital for comprehensive health assessments and close psychological rehabilitation.
Mr. Sumethee Kamlue, Mayor of Chiang Muan Subdistrict Municipality and incident commander, along with Mr. Pichai Khueanphet, District Chief of Chiang Muan, closely monitored the rescue efforts. They expressed congratulations to both families and plan to summarize the operation results in an official press briefing for the public.
