7.5-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Flores Island, Indonesia Meteorological Department Confirms No Impact on Thailand

The Meteorological Department issued its first announcement stating that the 7.5-magnitude earthquake near Flores Island, Indonesia, at a depth of 10 kilometers does not affect Thailand.

It reported that at 04:58 on 15 August 2025, an earthquake occurred in the Flores Region, Indonesia, with an epicenter at latitude 8.40 degrees south and longitude 121.42 degrees east. The earthquake measured 7.5 in magnitude at a depth of 10 kilometers and does not affect Thailand.

The impact near the earthquake’s epicenter is estimated to have reached a maximum intensity of level X on the Mercalli scale. The population felt strong shaking, and many buildings and structures collapsed. Further details will be promptly provided as they become available.
