On 17 August 2026, the Facebook page ofthe National Water Resources Officeposted that the National Water Resources Office has issued a warning for flash floods and waterlogging from 19 to 21 August 2026.
A monsoon trough passes over the Northern and Upper Northeastern regions, combined with a strong southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. This will cause very heavy rain in some areas of the Northern, Northeastern, Eastern, and Western regions from 19 to 21 August 2026.
Therefore, vigilance is advised for areas at risk of waterlogging in urban communities where drainage is often insufficient, as well as for flash floods, forest runoff, landslides, and riverbank overflows due to heavy and accumulated rainfall. The affected provinces include Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Phrae, Nan, Uttaradit, Tak, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon, Chanthaburi, Trat, and Kanchanaburi.
