Nan Province Declares Disaster Zone After Flash Floods in Pua District Affect 12 Subdistricts and 107 Villages

Nan Province has declared an emergency disaster zone following continuous heavy rainfall, which caused flash floods and sudden inundation in Pua District, affecting 12 subdistricts and 107 villages.

Due to the flood situation caused by sudden and severe inundation in Nan Province, the local population has suffered hardships. Recently, Banjong Khunphet, Deputy Governor of Nan Province acting on behalf of the Governor, signed a declaration for emergency disaster assistance concerning flash floods in Pua District.

The declaration designates 12 subdistricts and 107 villages as disaster-affected areas, which include:

1. Villages 1-9, Chedi Chai Subdistrict
2. Villages 1-7, Ngaeng Subdistrict
3. Villages 1-10, Silaphet Subdistrict
4. Villages 1-14, Phuka Subdistrict
5. Villages 1-8, Pua Subdistrict
6. Villages 1-8, Silalaeng Subdistrict
7. Villages 1-13, Sathan Subdistrict
8. Villages 1-8, Chaiwatthana Subdistrict
9. Villages 1-8, Woranakhon Subdistrict
10. Villages 1-11, Ouan Subdistrict
11. Villages 1-4, Skad Subdistrict
12. Villages 1-7, Pa Klang Subdistrict

The announcement notes that urgent assistance is necessary, preventing a timely meeting of the provincial disaster relief committee. The damages align with Ministry of Finance criteria. Under Article 20, final paragraph of the Ministry of Finance regulations on emergency advance funds for disaster relief (2025), the provincial governor has declared these areas as emergency disaster assistance zones. This allows government agencies and relevant organizations to provide aid according to Ministry of Finance guidelines, effective for up to 3 months from the disaster date.
