Department of Mineral Resources Issues Landslide Warning for 19-21 Aug, Highlights 15 High-Risk Provinces

The Department of Mineral Resources issues a watch for "landslides" and flash floods from 19 to 21 August 2026, identifying high-risk areas in 15 provinces across the northern, central, and eastern regions.

On 19 August 2026, the Facebook pageDisaster Operations Center, Department of Mineral Resourcesposted a message stating that the Department of Mineral Resources has issued a landslide watch from 19 to 21 August 2026.

The Department of Mineral Resources, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, requests volunteers in the provinces of Nan, Phayao, Phrae, Uttaradit, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang, Tak, Mae Hong Son, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Kanchanaburi, Chanthaburi, and Trat to monitor landslide and flash flood risks from 19 to 21 August 2026 and to continuously measure rainfall levels. The Disaster Operations Center will closely track the situation.

Recommendations

  • Follow weather updates and rainfall measurements, especially in areas experiencing over 100 mm of rain in 24 hours.
  • In low-lying flood-prone areas, secure belongings, animals, and valuables by moving them to higher or safer ground.
  • Watch for warning signs such as turbid water and floating wood debris.
  • Avoid crossing watercourses, shortcutting through streams, or fishing during this period.
  • Maintain continuous 24-hour watch shifts.
  • Warnings will be issued from upstream, midstream, and downstream areas.
  • Prepare flashlights or lighting devices for immediate use.
  • Stay alert and be ready to evacuate to safe points at all times.
