CAAT Announces Nan Flights Continue Operating Normally, Advises Passengers to Allow Extra Travel Time

CAAT has announced that "Nan flights" and Nan Nakhon Airport continue to operate normally. Passengers are advised to allow extra travel time following the "Nan flooding" situation affecting some routes.

On 19 August 2026 at approximately 17:30, the Facebook page CAAT - The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand posted that the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) is providing an update on air travel in Nan province amid heavy rain and flooding in several areas.

Currently, Nan Nakhon Airport remains open and flights are operating according to schedule. However, some road routes leading to the airport are limited due to flooding, which may cause passengers to require more travel time than usual to reach the airport.

CAAT advises passengers planning to travel in and out of Nan province to check road conditions and traffic before departure, allow extra time to reach the airport, and closely monitor flight status with airlines, since the rain and flooding situation may change and affect ground travel or flight operations later.

Weather conditions are crucial to flight safety, especially heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, and poor visibility, which may cause flight delays, route changes, or cancellations. CAAT and related agencies are continuously monitoring the situation, prioritizing passenger safety and flight operations.

Meanwhile, CAAT informs passengers of their rights under Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand Regulation No. 101 on passenger protection measures for scheduled domestic and international flights. This regulation defines airline responsibilities for passenger care in cases of delays, cancellations, or denied boarding, including information provision and assistance according to prescribed criteria. Rights and compensation depend on causes and conditions under the regulation.

CAAT urges passengers traveling now, especially through Nan province, to allow extra travel time to the airport, check ground routes, and monitor flight status with airlines before departure. This allows appropriate planning and travel adjustments as needed, including any airline measures to assist passengers given the situation.
