At 10:20 a.m. on 20 Aug 2026 GMT+7, the radio center of Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation in Pattaya received reports of a bee nest breaking open, swarming, and stinging many locals and students. The incident occurred beside the government center at Bang Lamung District Office, Na Kluea Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. Upon receiving the report, more than five ambulances were dispatched to the scene to provide assistance.  and "tags":["emergency response","bee attack","Bang Lamung","Chonburi","rescue"]

At the government center, which houses Bang Lamung Police Station, Bang Lamung District Office, and Bang Lamung School, next to a large rain tree, there is a food and beverage center. Initially, 10 injured people were found, all stung by giant bees on their bodies, waiting for rescue. Some showed allergic reactions with large swollen wounds. One injured person was identified as Mrs. Oranong Ventrees, 71, a food vendor selling Isan and made-to-order dishes, seriously injured after being stung by over 100 bees. Also present was Lieutenant Ratchaphol Saneewong Na Ayutthaya, Deputy Investigation Officer of Bang Lamung Police Station, who tried to help Mrs. Oranong but was also stung and injured. Mrs. Jirapha Patcharawarisakorn, 58, a food vendor nearby, recounted that before the incident, Mrs. Oranong, known as Aunt Auan, was lighting a fire to grill chicken when giant bees from the top of the rain tree began disturbing her. Initially, the number was small, but within two minutes, about 100 bees swarmed and stung Aunt Auan, causing her to collapse. Lieutenant Ratchaphol arrived and tried to help but was also stung and fell. He then quickly grabbed a fire extinguisher to spray Aunt Auan to drive away the bees. The bees also attacked passersby and students who were walking by. That day, teachers had allowed students to leave early due to a power outage, and some were injured.  and "tags":["eyewitness account","bee attack","food vendor","school students","emergency"]

Initial inspection found the giant bee nest quite large, about 1x1 meter, located at the top of the rain tree. Pattaya City’s disaster relief unit decided to use a bucket truck to burn and destroy the nest immediately to prevent further incidents. Locals revealed a similar event had occurred once before but was less severe than this one.  and "tags":["bee nest removal","public safety","disaster relief","Pattaya","local incident"]
