On 24 Aug 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported a heartbreaking incident in the rescue and disaster relief community after Supamongkol Rattanachit, a 47-year-old staff member of the Volunteer Foundation 'Puen Pueng (Phor)' under the Thai Red Cross Society from Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, died suddenly while assisting people affected by flooding in Nan Province.

Supamongkol was part of the special task force of 'Puen Pueng (Phor)' volunteers working alongside Prasat Boonsathan Foundation from Phitsanulok Province, a disaster response drone team, Kubota Company, and Singha Volunteers to expedite delivery of food, drinking water, and essential supplies to affected residents.

Using drones to transport goods into disaster areas, the mission covered three subdistricts in Pua District: Phuka, Silalang, and Woranakhon, totaling 14 villages, 1,466 households, and over 4,000 people affected by damaged routes and difficult access since 21 August.

Team members revealed that Supamongkol had underlying health issues and may have been sleep-deprived due to continuous duties before his sudden death at a hotel. However, doctors are still diagnosing the exact cause.

This loss deeply saddens teammates and all workers, as Supamongkol continued assisting disaster victims until his final moments, leaving behind a legacy of sacrifice, dedication, and the memory of those who choose to serve amid severe public hardship.

Supamongkol Rattanachit served as the Disaster Operations Manager (or Relief Department Head) of the Volunteer Foundation 'Puen Pueng (Phor)' under the Thai Red Cross Society.
